Houston's Best City Locations for Portraits
Looking for some of the best Houston photography spots for your senior photoshoot? I’m sharing my favorite locations in the city.
Houston has some of the most diverse locations for your senior photo session. The city has a wide variety of parks and unique historic and urban buildings that create beautiful, backdrops and creative looks.
Here are some of my favorite urban locations in Houston for your senior session.
1. Buffalo Bayou Park ~ This park is one of Houston’s most popular parks due to its location right in the middle of the city. It stretches between Shepherd Drive and Sabin between Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive. It’s 160 acres which creates a large variety of urban green spaces perfect for any senior session. The best times to go are March April, and May, when everything is in full bloom. It also has the famous Sabine bridge and city skyline. Both make a perfect backdrop for any senior portrait.
2. Memorial Park ~ This is the newest addition to Houston’s park system. This is an incredible location to photograph alongside greenery, and nature close to downtown Houston.
3. Smither Park ~ I love when my seniors ask for unique and creative backdrops. Smither Park is located in the third ward and east end. The mosaic tiles and mirror artwork lend themselves to great opportunities to make unique and original senior portraits.
4. Main Street Square ~ Houston, Texas. The metro rail and fountain water jets make up the Main Street square which is located between two light rail stations on the block of 900 and 1100 Main St. This area is beautifully landscaped with green gardens and flowers which makes the combination of this urban city street the perfect backdrop for senior portraits.
5. Graffiti Blocks ~ Want something bright, colorful and unique for your senior portraits? I love discovering some of the coolest spots of street art in the downtown Houston area. These murals often change but can be found located at the corner of Leeland and Pease off of Chartres St.
6. The Post Houston ~ Formerly the Houston Downtown Post Office located at 401 Franklin St. This area offers a variety of colored walls, staircases, cityscape views which make an awesome variety of backgrounds for photos. Always check the calendar before you go to make sure you don’t select a concert or event date.
