Creative Ideas and Props for High School Senior Portraits
You’ve worked hard for four years and now we want to showcase you and what you’ve invested your life in. Your senior portraits are like a time capsule featuring you with what you love, who you are and all things about you.
Props are some of the most creative and fun ways to make your portraits stand out. Senior portrait props can include things you wear and bring for your senior portrait session.
Here are a few of our favorites:
1. Pets - Dogs, cats, horses, heifers and lizards. Some of the most fun and creative sessions are planned around your pets. With detailed planning your pets can be a fun part of your senior experience.
2. Heirlooms and sentimental items. Whether it’s your grandfather’s favorite surfboard or a watch he gave you, grandma‘s favorite necklace or ring, you’ll want to include these items in your senior session to make your portraits even more special. Duplicating your mom’s or grandma’s portrait is another way to capture a memory and honor them.
3. Accessories- Fun jewelry, senior ring, hats and scarves make a wonderful addition to all of your outfits. Layering these as well as holding them is a great way to add variety to your portraits without having to change.
4. Vehicles - your car, truck or motorcycle inspire creative poses and document this time in your life as you probably won’t always have them.
5. Trophies, medals and honors – Why not showcase all your winning achievements for a few of your portraits? Gathering all of these and taking a few portraits of your medals, ribbons, trophies and certificates always makes a wonderful addition to your album. Most of these end up in a box in the attic so let’s feature them in a beautiful way to remember.
6. Sports jerseys and equipment, instruments, and lettermans – Of course, including these props are a must when you’ve specialized in music and sports for years. Whether it’s adding your instrument or sports equipment to your dressy clothes or you come dressed in your entire uniform and gear, this is a non-negotiable for seniors.
7. Flowers, signs and balloons – Want whimsical, happy and bright props? Include a bouquet of your favorite flowers, a creative sign or message or a balloon bouquet into your session to celebrate you and add to your gallery.
8. Favorite fast food, candy or drink - Every senior has their favorite fast food and candy. Nothing brightens a senior’s smile then seeing them hold their favorite food and being creative with including them in the session.
